20/21AUG (DAY 1)

Welcome back! Below are the instructions for the first assignment: (If you need another copy of the full instructions and rubric, please see me in class and I will email it to you) Chapter 1: The World in 1500 Layer Book Project DIRECTIONS: Begin with two blank pieces of paper. 1. Lay one sheet of paper on top of another sheet. Slide the top sheet up so that ½ “of the bottom sheet is showing. 2. Hold the two sheets together, fold down the top of the two sheets so that you see four ½” tabs along the bottom. 3. Using a stapler, staple the top of the Fold Note as close to the edge as possible. Follow instructions for each layer of the book below. 5 POINTS—FRONT COVER: Title Page • Label the bottom of the front page “The World in 1500” • Creatively decorate the title page to coincide with the theme of the chapter—you may trace. • Cover must be in color. 10 POINTS—LAYER #2 • Label the bottom of the second page—1.1 Crossing to the Americas • Draw or trace the map on page 28; Early Migration to the Americas. Include the key, label the continents and oceans, and color. • Create a graphic organizer (2 columns x 5 rows) on the TOP HALF of the fold that shows the names of the civilizations and the significant achievements of each one. 10 POINTS—LAYER # 3 • Label the bottom of the third page—1.2 Societies of North America. • Create a matrix (4 columns, 8 rows) using the TOP and BOTTOM HALF of the layer book. The matrix will highlight the seven regions of North America and include the culture groups in each region. You will then label the remaining columns categorizing information about these regions and various groups to compare and contrast their food sources, types of dwellings, customs/ beliefs and governing system within the tribes. 10 POINTS—LAYER # 4 • Label the BOTTOM HALF of the fourth page—North America Regional Map of Native Americans • Draw a map of North America identifying the seven regions and placing the culture groups within in the correct region. Create key using color and symbols to differentiate the regions and culture groups.. 10 POINTS  NAME AND PERIOD ON BACK of the layer book and on the rubric.  RUBRIC is attached to the back of the Layer Book (layer book stapled at the top of the page).  The DIRECTIONS above were followed for each layer of the book.  Foldnotes were CREATIVE AND COLORFUL.  Foldnotes were NEAT and EASY T O READ
